— Together Forever

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — George Robert and Phyllis Elizabeth Scarlett, of Hedges-ville, both passed away and remain together forever.

George was born on April 4, 1930 in Cumberland and Phyllis was born Aug. 15, 1925 in Canton, Ohio. George was the son of the late Robert and Georgette (Casteel) Scarlett. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Scarlett, John Scarlett, Leo Scarlett, and Charles Scarlett; and his sister, Patricia Shirey. Phyllis was the daughter of the late Claude and Mae (Shaffer) Copeland. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dorotha Kerns and Louise Wilson. George was Director of Community Development for the City of Cumberland, a member of the Cumberland Rotary Club and active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a United States veteran in the Air Force. Phyllis was a homemaker. They both were charter members of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. Their greatest joy was being together with each other and took care of each other over their 56 years of marriage. Surviving are their daughter, Amy Scarlett Freeman and husband Scott; their son, Wesley Scarlett; their grandchildren, Rebecca Freeman, David Freeman, and Angelica Freeman; numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be conducted at Restlawn Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. ( 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland.
