TERRY R. BOWER [Corriganville]

CORRIGANVILLE — Terry Ray Bower, 70, of Corriganville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at home with his family by his side, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Born April 7, 1943, in Hyndman, Pa., Mr. Bower was the son of the late Grant Bower and Cora (Snyder) Bower.  

Terry graduated from Hyndman High School, served in the United States Navy on active duty from 1962-1964, the Naval Reserves combined for 18 years and was a First Class Petty Officer HT1. Terry worked at the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America as a pipe/steam fitter until it closed. He was also employed with RC Lapp and then Frostburg State University in the Maintenance Department until his retirement. Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, gardening, and traveling, but his primary passion was providing for and spending time with family.

Terry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Florene (Kinton) Bower; his children, Michael Bower and fiancee Christa, Terri Spencer and husband Jack and Treva Lowery and husband Todd and his grandchildren, Alex Lowery, Aiden Lowery and Madeline Spencer. He is also survived by his brothers, Jack Bower and wife Lois, Jim Bower and wife Shirley and Ron Bower and wife Judy; his sister, Barbara “Sis” Mason and husband Kermit; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Calvary Bible Church, 13901 South Gardner Ave., Ellerslie, where Terry was a member for years, on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Korns and Pastor Greg Miller officiating. Friends will also be received at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to Calvary Bible Church, Post Office Box 436, Ellerslie, MD 21529; or to the Corriganville Volunteer Fire Company, 12501 Corrigan Drive, Corriganville, MD 21524.
