CUMBERLAND — Donald Alvin Garland, 49, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 5, 1963, in Cumberland, Mr. Garland was the son of Alvin Oliver Garland and wife, Donna, and the late Mary Kathryn (Woods) Raynor-Garland.
Don was employed as a welder on nuclear power plants. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Beside his father, Don is survived by his significant other, Reni Melotti and her son, Dominick, her daughter, Maxie Gilmore; his son, Donald Matthew Garland and wife, Paige, Cumberland; and four grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Donna Womack and husband, Steve, Salisbury; his niece, Amanda Womack, Greensboro, N.C.; his aunts, Carol Morgrett and husband, Bob, Betty Conner and husband, Ronald, all of Carpendale, W.Va., Ginny Foreman, Cumberland, and Millie McLaughlin, Ridgeley, W.Va.; his uncles, Chuck Woods, Ridgeley, Lee Garland, Keyser, W.Va. and Jim Garland and wife, Stephanie, Cumberland; his paternal aunts, Nola Helmstetter and husband, Leo, Nina Shaw; Reba Nelson, all of Cumberland, and Shirley Heare and husband, Fred, Fayetteville, N.C.; as well as many friends.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Floyd Bender officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery.
