RUTH A. (LINDEMAN) PRESTON [Frostburg]

FROSTBURG — Ruth A. (Lindeman) Preston, 76, of Frostburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 25, 1937, in Frostburg, she is the daughter of Walter Lindeman and Naomi McKenzie. She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Robert “Bobby” Preston; brother in laws, Bill and Betty Preston, and Oscar and Betty Preston.

Mrs. Preston was a member of the Church of Brethren, Frostburg. She was a homemaker and worked earlier years with her husband at Hack’s Bar & Grill, Hack’s Pool Hall and Red Wing Lounge. She was also employed with Failingers Hotel Gunter. Ruth loved spending time with her family and the highlight of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, John “Hack” Preston; five children, Kate McKenzie and husband Darrell, of Winchester, Va., John W. Preston and wife Cindy, of Frostburg, Sandy Webber and husband Paul, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Donna “Duna” Preston, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Ruthie Folk and fiance Kevin Carroll, of Cumberland; grandchildren, Adam McKenzie and wife Jessica, Jennifer Sines and husband Johnny, Mandi Raley and husband Ryan, Jason Preston, Paul Webber II and wife Ely, Bryon Folk and wife Kayleigh and Jeff McKenzie; five great-grandchildren, Olivia, Nolan, Preston, and Brennan Raley, Ryleigh McKenzie, and Malia Sines and a sister, Betty (Lindeman) Preston and husband Jim.

Ruth was cremated in accordance with her wishes.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, May 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rick Riley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Ruth, c/o John Preston to a special memorial trust fund set up at PNC Bank, 300 East Main St., Frostburg, MD 21532.
