Eugene T. “Gene” Alderton [LaVale]

— LAVALE — Eugene T. “Gene” Alderton, 77, of LaVale, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born on May 17, 1936, in Vale Summit, he was the son of the late Bud and Mary Alderton of LaVale.

Gene was a United States veteran and served his country for six years in the Army Reserves. He was employed by Hercules Inc. at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and retired after 34 ½ years.

Surviving are his brother, John Alderton and wife Ann of LaVale; niece, Lisa Alderton and fiancé John Lin of Alexandria Va.; grand-nieces Claire, Claudia, Celia Bailey; nephew, Adam Alderton and wife Meagan of Alexandria Va.; grand-nephew, Blake Alderton; grand-niece, Ashton Alderton; special cousin, Sandy Twigg and husband Tommy; special friends, Don and Tess Graves of Cumberland and their children Donnie, Terri and Tim.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. ( McMullen Highway, Cresaptown, on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veteran’s Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be John Alderton, Adam Alderton, Tommy Twigg, Christopher Twigg, Bill Michaels and John Lin.
