— LAVALE — Mary Margaret S. “Peggy” Browning of LaVale, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born March 22, 1931 in Masontown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Sterbutzel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Meshach I. Browning.

Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Davis and husband Mathew Davis of Germantown; son, William Browning and wife Ann Browning  of LaVale. She had one beautiful granddaughter, Kourtney Browning who was her pride and joy. Also her sister Joanne Malone.

Peggy was a devoted Mother and Maw Maw. She was a teacher with the Allegany County School System, retiring in 1999 when her granddaughter arrived. She spent her retirement volunteering at the Western Maryland Health System Gift Shop.  She was also an active member in Delta Kappa Gamma and the Allegany Country Retired School Personnel. She spent her spare time working in her flowerbeds.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm.  

A private family burial will take place at a later date.
