ALMA L. BECKER [New Creek, W.Va.]

— NEW CREEK, W.Va. — Alma Louise Becker of New Creek, departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Born on Nov. 11, 1939 at New Creek, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Pancake Jr. and Lucy (Hines) Pancake.

Mrs. Becker was a graduate of Keyser High School and Catherman's Business School and was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways.  She was a former 4-H leader and a member of the parks and recreation softball league for many years.  She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Queen's Point Memorial Post 6775,VFW, McCoole, and Chapter 191 Women of the Moose, Keyser. A volunteer for the Family Crisis Center, she was the head cheerleader for her daughters, was an avid reader and loved animals.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Robert A. Becker; two daughters, Robin D. Becker and husband, Dale Ware of Richmond, Va. and Crystal Becker Day of New Creek; three grandchildren, Aden Ware and Jayde Ware of Richmond and Cara Day of New Creek; two nephews, Steven Becker of Keyser and Kenneth Becker of Cadiz, Ohio; and two nieces, Allison Becker Culhane of Bridgeport, W.Va. and Ashley Becker of New York, N.Y.  She is also survived by a special caregiver, Christine Smith of Keyser.

The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Potomac Valley Hospice for their wonderful support and kindness as well as Sandy Matlick, Jessica Files and Roberta Schaefer for the wonderful care given to our beloved mother and wife.
