— CUMBERLAND — Hazel Lillian “Babe” (Poland) Robeson, 98, of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born on Oct. 31, 1914 in Kirby, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Edith (Klein) Poland. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Claude Broadwater; her second husband, Russell Robeson; her devoted friend Charles “C.O.” Price; her sisters, Aldena Buckee, Lola McKee, Grace Hott, Goldie Covalt; her brothers, Ward Poland, Donavin Poland, Watson Poland, Lloyd Poland, Raymond Poland, and Marvin Poland.

“Babe” was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Potomac Park United Methodist Church, in Potomac Park. She loved gardening, and was an avid baker. She also loved to square dance. She was a past member of the Bells and Bows and the Wheelers and Dealers dances. “Babe” was a special Nana to Anna and Matthew Boch, Jared Skidmore, and Sara AuMiller.

Surviving are her one sister, Alleda Violet (Poland) Rephann; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. (, Cresaptown, on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m.

Interment will be held privately at the Bittinger Cemetery, Bittinger.
