CUMBERLAND — Barbara “Bobbie” Jacqueline (Shaffer) Mongold-Dye, 78, of Cumberland, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, June 10, 2013, at her home with her loving family beside her.
Born Oct. 3, 1934, in Elkins, W.Va., Mrs. Dye was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Ina Meredith (Woods) Shaffer. She was also preceded in death by six sisters; two brothers; one grandson; two great-grandsons, and her beloved canine friends, Boots and Barbie.
Bobbie was employed on Stegmaier’s Farm, a job she truly enjoyed, and was a member of the Highland Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Brady David Mongold Jr. and wife Martha, of Haughton, La., Guy Charles Mongold and wife Dawn, of Hedgesville, W.Va., William Jacob Mongold and wife Anna Tamela Rebecca Mongold and Ina Margaret Lagratta and husband Jim, all of Cumberland. Bobbie also leaves behind her brother, Charles Shaffer and wife Carol, of Elkins, W.Va., her sisters, Doris Duprie and husband Bob, of Carleton, Mich. and Patsy Whittow, of Taylor, Mich.; a special daughter-in-law, Julie Porter, of Cumberland; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter, Isabella Iliff, of Cumberland. Bobbie is also survived by her very special “sister,” Shirley Steele, of Cumberland; numerous nieces and nephews, who thought of her as their Mom and her loving dogs, Zoey and Blue. Bobbie had a very special nurse, her granddaughter, Shyanna.
Per her request, Bobbie donated her body to the Maryland Anatomy Board.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Highland Baptist Church on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Calhoun and Pastor Jack Lancaster officiating.
