NANCY L. BUSER [Carpenters Addition, W.Va.]

CARPENTERS ADDITION, W.Va. — Nancy Louise Buser, of Carpenters Addition, went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on Friday, April 12, 2013.

She had spent the last year of her life in Berryville, Va., to be closer to her girls and grandchildren.

She was born in Cumberland on March 4, 1942, to the late Lloyd and Ethel Grace Brooke. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Chester Buser; sisters Margaret Johnston and Leona Watson; her brother, William Brooke and her adopted sister, Gladys Doyle.

The youngest of five siblings, Nancy was a devoted sister, aunt, daughter and granddaughter. She was always the caregiver and peacemaker. She spent her adult life devoted to her children, her grandchildren, her church and her friends. There was never a time when she was not there for her girls and her grandchildren. She never missed a birthday, a holiday or any little event in their lives. She could always be counted on to be their cheerleader, their coach, their doctor, their nurse, their teacher and their therapist. Her energy, humor and drive knew no limits.

She worked with Blue Cross and Blue Shield and later with Cumberland Valley Health Systems. She retired from Information Innovators in 2011. Her passion was in her garden and her flowers. She loved nothing more than cutting her grass, weeding her gardens and canning her beans and corn.

She was a devoted friend and neighbor, always willing to lend a hand, bake a cake or provide a shoulder to lean on. To know Nancy Buser was to know you had an ally and a true friend through thick and thin.

She is survived by her three daughters, Lorie Ellen (Buser) O’Donnell and husband Tom, of Berryville, Va, Deborah Lynn (Buser) Ikirt and husband Steve, of Burke, Va. and Amy Rena (Buser) Kouch and husband Larry, of Winchester, Va.; eight grandchildren, Katie, Dan and Ella O’Donnell, Brooke and Mason Ikirt and Brady, Haley and Madelyn Kouch and her sister, Doris Brooke.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, ( on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Central Assembly of God Church, 2020 Bedford St., Cumberland, on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Green officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to service time.
