CUMBERLAND — Liola Norman “Pete” Myers, 92, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at his home.
Born Aug. 22, 1921, in Wiley Ford, W.Va., he was the son of the late Patrick O. Myers and Emma (Crabtree) Myers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Katherine (Hockaday) Myers in 2008; a son, Jack Myers; his siblings, Wayne Myers, Harvey Myers, Otha Myers, Johnny Myers, Clyde Myers, Patrick Myers, Russell Myers, Delphine Welch, Ethel Hall, and Grace Shepard.
Mr. Myers was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, 2nd Infantry. He worked at B&O Railroad as a laborer. He was a member of Central Assembly of God, AARP, DAV, Henry Hart Post 1411 V.F.W., and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Judith Twigg and husband David, Mount Savage and Janice Rohr, Cumberland; four granddaughters, Rebecca Albright and husband Kevin, Flintstone, Kimberly, Jackie, Dana Myers; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandson.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifh.com) on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Parker officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veteran’s Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Greenspring Assembly of God.
