ELIZABETH B. (HENDRICKSON) LAYTON [Cumberland]

— CUMBERLAND — Elizabeth Berdell (Hendrickson) Layton, 88, of Cumberland, went to be with Her Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, with her family by her side.

Born Aug. 28, 1925 in Flintstone, she was the daughter of the late John Willis Hendrickson and Helen Elizabeth (Rice) Hendrickson.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Junior Elwood Layton, Jan. 15, 2007; a brother, Vernon Hendrickson; and a sister, Luretta Mae Beeman.

A homemaker, Elizabeth was a lifetime member of Oakdale Chapel, Flintstone; and was also a member of the homemaker’s association. She loved to sing, was an avid quilter and enjoyed gardening.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, John E. Layton and fiancée Anna Thompson, Howard L. Layton and Bryan K. Layton and wife, Joyce, all of Cumberland; and her daughters, Donna L. Day and husband, Russell, Short Gap, W.Va., Janet E. Layton and fiance, Edward Fling, Needmore, Pa. and Beverly K. Deneen and husband, Kenneth, Cumberland; a brother, Fred Hendrickson and wife Jeanne, Hyndman, Pa.; a sister, Rosannah Robinette, Cresaptown; a sister-in-law, Helen Hendrickson, Clearville, Pa.; as well as 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland,  (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn Jones officiating.

Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
