EDITH M. “EDIE” SMITH [Clearville, Pa.]

CLEARVILLE, Pa. — Edith M. “Edie” Smith, 66, of Union Church Road, Clearville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013.  

She was born on Dec. 17, 1946 in Flintstone, a daughter of the late Coyle and Myrtle (Smith) Bennett. On July 8, 1967 in Flintstone,  she married Robert A. Smith. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2009.  

She is survived by the following family, a daughter, Melissa A. married to John “J.J.” Cogan, Breezewood, Pa.; three grandchildren, Karissa, Dalton and Kecia; siblings, Lillian married to Kermit Humbertson, Flintstone, Betty Foor, Everett, Pa., Stella Elbin, Fletcher, N.C., Linda married to Mike Mallow, Clearville, Wilma married Tom Davis, Ridgeley, W.Va., Coyle “Junior” Bennett married to Charlene, Everett; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by a brother, Albert Bennett.

Mrs. Smith was of the Methodist faith.

She was a graduate of Flintstone High School, class of 1964.

She was employed at Everett Lions Manufacturing for 20 years until its closing; she then was worked at Sheetz in Everett going on 22 years. She always had a smile and greeted you with her great sense of humor.

Edie was a member of the Bloody Run Social Club, Everett and the Everett V.F.W. Post 2088.

She enjoyed being with family and friends, baking, dancing and being a groupie of the Channeysville Ramblers.

Her biggest pride and joy was her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them show their 4-H animals and attending their sporting events.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, with Pastor Bruce Maxwell officiating.

Friends will be received on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery.
