GLEN H. SITES [Fremont, Calif.]

FREMONT, CALIF. — Glen H. Sites, 93, of Fremont, Calif. and formerly of Petersburg, W.Va., passed away on Nov. 6, 2013 at the Aegis of Fremont Living Community  in Fremont, Calif.

He was born Oct. 13, 1920 in Rough Run, W.Va., and was a son of the late Jesse N. and Nettie C. (Getz) Sites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cletus (Pete) Sites and two sisters, Edna (Sites) Post and Ruth (Sites) Belt.

Mr. Sites graduated from Petersburg High School in 1938. He joined the U.S. Navy Reserves in 1942 and received his aviation training, in part, at WVU. Ens. Sites graduated and received his wings from the United States Naval Air Training Center in Pensacola, Fla. in 1943. He served as an aviator in World War II stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Lt. Sites worked for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oakland, Calif. in 1958 until his retirement in 1982.

He is survived by  his wife of 55 years, Matilda; three daughters, Glenda (Sites) Dearborn of Petersburg, W.Va., Carole (Sites) Smith of Auburn, Calif. and Laura Sites-Reynolds and husband John, of Fremont, Calif.; four grandchildren, David Abercrombie, Don Abercrombie and Ian Sites Reynolds, all of California and Crystal Meyer of Washington; one niece, Barbie (Sites) Snell and husband Riley of Alaska; two nephews, Reggie Sites and wife Tamara of Lahmansville, W.Va, and Trent Sites and wife Cindy of Petersburg, W.Va; one brother, Otis P. Sites and wife Peggy of Petersburg, W.Va.

Per his request, Mr. Sites body was cremated. A private service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii where he will receive full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
