KENNETH C. WILT [Frederick County, Va.]

FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. — Kenneth Charles Wilt, 67, of Frederick County, Va., died at home Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Ken was born in 1946 in Cumberland, the son of the late Calvin and Dorothy Wilt. He was a graduate of Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Class of 1964. Ken was of the Lutheran Faith. The majority of his career was spent in the printing industry, being most recently employed as Vice-President and Production Manager for Avalanche Services in Kearneysville, W.Va. He was a Master Mason and awarded his 32nd Degree and member of the Hiram Lodge in Winchester, Va., Scottish Rite and Shriner, past member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and avid Civil War re-enactor (Brigadier General, commanding Jackson’s Corps). Along with re-enacting, Ken also enjoyed a variety of other hobbies including: riding horses, fishing, hunting, auto racing and leatherwork. Most important to Ken was spending time with his family and friends.

He married Vonda Gouker on March 20, 1971 in Mercersburg, Pa.

Surviving with his wife, is his daughter, Kenda Wilt O’Brien and partner, Tara Tokar of Thurmont, Kevon Dion Wilt and wife, Kimberley, of Winchester; grandchildren, Kelsey Myers and husband, Corey, Kenneth Kober, Colin Wilt; great grandson, Brennan Myers; sister, Joyce Sine and husband, Chuck, of Cumberland, and the “brother he never had,” Jim Shank of Cumberland.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Dave Young officiating.  The family will be available to receive visitors starting at 10 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ken’s name to the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation, 8437 Valley Pike, Middletown, VA 22645.
