FROSTBURG — Carmela Virginia Stanton, 96, of Frostburg, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at the WMHS Frostburg Nursing & Rehab Center.
She was born Sept. 3, 1916, in Frostburg, to the late Sam and Jenny (Arnone) Arnone. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence V. Stanton; five brothers, John, Joseph, Victor, Michael and Tony Arnone and two sisters, Susan Greco and Emma Fiumara.
Carmela was a homemaker and a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church.
Mrs. Stanton is survived by her four daughters, Catherine Crowe and husband Charles, of Reston, Va., Sharon Christner and husband Leo, of Denton, Texas, Frances Ricco, of Mechanicsville and Mary Mallory and husband Bill, of Huntingtown; one son, Robert Stanton and wife Sybil, of Rock Hill, S.C.; godson, Richard Kenney and wife Coleen, of Frostburg; two brothers, Thomas Arnone, of West Virginia and Francis Arnone, of LaVale; two sisters, JoAnne Vera, of Florida and Mary Theresa Barranco, of Whiteford; 11 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michaels Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant.
Inurnment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
