LAVALE  — Ethel G. Michael, 95, of LaVale, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at home.

Born in Moorefield, W.Va., on Jan. 29, 1918, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Maggie M. (Roadcap) Kessel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Milburn A. Michael Sr.; a daughter, Gloria Pappas; a son, M. Wayne Michael; seven sisters, Elsie, Fannie, Ola, Leona, Esther, Gladys and Janet; three brothers, Paul, Ernest and Courtney and a special brother-in-law, Joseph D. Michael.

Ethel was a graduate of Allegany High School class of 1936. For most her life, Ethel was a homemaker. She was a member of the bowling club of the Bowler. She was devoted to her family.

Survivors include a son, Milburn A. “Mike” Michael Jr. and wife Michele, of Eldersburg; grandchildren, Milburn A. Michael III and wife Laura, of LaVale, Nathan L. Michael and wife Jennifer, of New Mexico, Matthew T. Michael, of Eldersburg, Michael Davidson and wife Patricia, of Bel Air, Kimberly, M. Wayne, Illya, and Lisa; numerous great-grandchildren, including Emily, Erin, Zachary, Ethan, Morgan and Levi; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and her special care givers, Suzy Martin and Mary Poling.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to her physician, Dr. Gregg Donaldson and the staff and participants of Willow Creek Adult Day Care Center.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., ( on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.  

Interment will take place in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
