— JEFFERSON, Ga. — Myrtle Elaine Appel Gay, 73, of Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.

Mrs. Gay was born in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Leo Fredrick Appel and the late Georgia McFarland Appel, was a homemaker and a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Athens. Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred, Gary and Harold Appel.

Mrs. Gay is survived by her husband, Charles Ronald Gay Sr. of Jefferson; son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Charles A. Gay Jr. and Brenda of Jefferson; sisters, Ina Rae Poling, Carolyn Meagher, Patty Maddy and brothers, Leo Appel and Johnny Appel, all of Cumberland; grandchildren, Christopher Gay and Brittany Dorman; great-grandchildren, Joseph Gay, Kaven Howard and Israel Howard.

Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Cole officiating. No public visitation is planned.  

Burial will take place on 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Ga.
