CHARLES W. ORNDORFF [Cresaptown]

CRESAPTOWN — Charles William Orndorff, 86, of Cresaptown, passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 28, 1927 in Rawlings, he was the son of the late Ervin and Goldie (Martin) Orndorff. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Orndorff and Ellen Raley.

Charles was retired from the purchasing department of the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he volunteered his “handy man” skills. He enjoyed remodeling and working at the church.

Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather who enjoyed gardening and sharing with his friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Winifred (Stouffer) Orndorff, with whom he would have celebrated their 66th anniversary in a week; his daughter, Barbara Parker and husband Timothy, Roanoke, Va.; his son, Larry W Orndorff and wife Paulette, Cumberland; four grandchildren, Andrew Orndorff and wife Christina, Frostburg, Brian Orndorff and wife Sheri, Hagerstown, Seth Parker and wife Jennie, Roanoke, Megan O’Bryant and husband Titus, Dallas, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Rhys, Mollie and Ella O’Bryant, Dallas, Lucas and Caroline Orndorff, Frostburg, and Benjamin and Addison Orndorff, Hagerstown. He is also survived by his brother, Edwin Orndorff and wife Colleen, Milford, Ohio; a sister, Millie Kephart and husband Fenton, Charlottesville, Va.; and a brother-in-law, Harold Stouffer and wife Imogene, Cresaptown.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown (www. scarpellifh.com) on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bruce McBride officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

The pallbearers will be his grandsons.

The family would like to thank the caring and devoted staff of Frostburg Village Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided.
