ROMNEY, W.Va. — Mary Ellen Wolford, 93, of Romney, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at her home.
Born on Oct. 11, 1920, in Green Spring, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Emma Ganoe.
She worked as a cook at Mt. Top Restaurant in Romney until retirement. She was a member of the Little Capon Baptist Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Haines, her second husband, Harry O. Wolford; three sons, Darrell Haines, Jerry Haines, Ronnie Haines and sisters, Nell Shrout and Jin Burnell.
Surviving are two stepsons, Harry Jo Wolford and Larry Wolford, both of Romney; a stepdaughter, Janet Barnes, of Augusta; six grandchildren, Tyra Dorsey, Bobby Haines, Matthew Haines, Bryan Haines, Dottie Barnes and Gerald Haines Jr., nine stepgrandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. in McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, W.Va., with Pastor Tony Baker officiating.
Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney, W.Va.
