JAMES L. KIMBLE [Fort Ashby, W.Va.]

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — James Lee Kimble, 78, of Fort Ashby, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Dawnview Center where he was a rehab client.

Born Aug. 3, 1934, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Marvin A. and Mary C. Miller Kimble. Also preceding him in death were a son, James Allen Kimble; an infant daughter, Mary Frances Kimble; and a sister, Barbara Jean DuPrey.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former member of the 351st Ordnance Company reserve unit in Romney. He was employed by the Helmer Corporation in Cresaptown, for a number of years as a concrete laborer and truck driver before becoming disabled from a stroke. He discovered a talent for working on clocks and repaired more than 800 before a second stroke prevented the use of his left hand.

He was a member of Berean Independent Baptist Church, Fort Ashby, although poor health kept him from attending.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Nora Lee Barnes Kimble; three daughters, Laurie A. Kimble and Sharon Sine and husband David, of Fort Ashby; and Mary Chaney and husband Rob, of Keyser, W.Va.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three sisters, Jeanette Hinkle, Dawnview Center, Fort Ashby; Judy Jackson, Romney, W.Va., and Linda Crock, Inwood. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and several step-grandchildren.

Friends will be received Thursday, May 2, at Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, from 1 to 3 p.m. The service will follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Rick Riley officiating.

Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.
