— FLINTSTONE — Carlson Lee “Carl” Fletcher, 83, of Flintstone, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 26, 1929, in Flintstone, he was the son of the late Roy and Mattie (Wharton) Fletcher. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Franklin Fletcher, Jerry J. Fletcher and Larry Fletcher and two sisters, Flora G. Fletcher Moyer and Francis F. Fletcher.

Carl was an Army veteran. He was a sergeant in the 88th Division during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Celanese Luber Department after 17 years of service.

Carl was a life member of the Oldtown VFW Post 9451, Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion, Cumberland Eagles 245 and the Piney Mountain Sportsmen’s Club.

He is survived by four sisters, Patsy E. Robison, of Artemus, Pa., Regina “Jean” McCusker and husband Loyal, of Hancock, Jackie A. Mayle, of Keyser, W.Va., and Judy D. Carey and husband Butch, of Orestown, Pa. and one brother, Paul E. Fletcher and wife Lillie, of Flintstone.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave. ( on Thursday, May 2, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veteran’s Honor Guard.
