— BOONSBORO — Willard E. “Butch” Wilt, 66, of Boonsboro, formerly of Jennings, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home.

Born June 23, 1946, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Frances (Wilt) Greene and Ray Butler. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clair “Nook” Wilt and Willard R. “Jake” Wilt; and two sisters, Phyllis “Dean” Donahue and Hattie Housel.

Mr. Wilt graduated from Northern High School in 1966 and worked for Lutz Meats, Frostburg and later, A & P Store, Keyser, W.Va., before moving to Boonsboro, where he worked for the State of Maryland Animal Health Lab in Frederick as a necropsy technician, until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol (Palmer) Wilt; one daughter, Stephanie Redus and husband, Will, Keedysville; one brother, Robert “Rob” Wilt and wife, Sheila, Grantsville; three half brothers, Cary Butler and wife, Beth, Proctorville, Ohio, David Greene and wife, Debbie, Bethlehem, Pa., James Greene and wife, Pam, Cumberland; and many nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed hunting and was an avid horseman and blacksmith throughout his life. He particularly loved his contest horses and will be missed by his loving companion dog, Samantha.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Grantsville Cemetery. Interment will follow.  

Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, is in charge of arrangements.
