MARY A. CANNON [Romney, W.Va.]

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Mary Ambrose Cannon, 83, of Romney, W.Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1930, in Brunswick, the daughter of the late Jessie Windfield Scott and Hazel Estella (Ault) Ambrose. Besides her parents, Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her loving husband and soul mate, Joseph C. Cannon; two sisters, Charlotte P. Cosner and Elizabeth Boher and one brother, Harry Ambrose.

One of Mary’s favorite pastimes was playing with her niece Kay Miller when she came to spend the summer. Mary felt her calling in life was to marry Joe and show him that someone loved him for himself. She wanted to show him that she loved the Lord and wanted him to love the Lord too. Mary wanted all her family to know how much she loved them and prayed for them.  She wanted them to know that each and everyone was special and how proud she was of them.

Mary was a former member of the Romney Assembly of God Church and dedicated her life to praying for her family and friends. She was a spiritual mother to all she knew and loved. Her desire in life was to lead all to the Lord.

Surviving are one son, Mark S. Gano and wife Brenda, of Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Margo Davis and husband Jerry, of Shanks, W.Va.; one sister, Ellen Shanholtz, of Romney, W.Va.; three stepchildren; one granddaughter, Jennifer Paxton and husband Jason, of Romney; four grandsons, Daniel Gano and wife Jenny, of Bentonville, Ark., Christopher Whaley and wife Amy, of Romney and Graham Gano and wife Brittany, of Charlotte, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren, Donovan, Mia, Trae, Skyla, Jacie, Bryson and Logan and several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren

The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted in the Shaffer Funeral Home on Monday, May 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ivan Ackerman officiating.
