DONALD L. “DON” WOLFE [Keyser, W.Va.]

KEYSER, W.Va. - Donald L. "Don" Wolfe, 89, of 1435 Beacon St., Keyser, died on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at Potomac Valley Hospital.

Born May 28, 1923 in Newburg, W.Va., he was a son of the late Lloyd and Helen (Ravenscroft) Wolfe.  

Mr. Wolfe was employed by the CSX Railroad as a locomotive engineer for 45 years and retired in 1984. He served in the U.S. Army 1943 to 1944 as an enlisted man. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in December 1944; to 1st Lieutenant in July 1945 and served on active duty until July 1946. He then served as an officer until April 1953 in U.S. Army Reserves.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Davis Lodge No 51, A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite 32 Degree, Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, VFW Post 6775, Queens Point, and a life-time member of U.T.U. and served as local committee man for 12 years.

Surviving are his wife of almost 70 years whom he married on Aug. 18, 1943, Virginia "Ginger" Wolfe; his daughter, Donna and her husband John "Jack" Atkinson of Keyser; his son, Kenneth Wolfe and his wife Sandra of Morgantown; three grandchildren, Kelli Kasmier, Barbara Tuel, both of Keyser and Troy Schifano of Morgantown; four great-grandchildren, Mary Kate Kasmier, Alexis Kesner, Hunter Kasmier and Ashton Tuel.

Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. James A. McCune officiating.  

Interment will follow at Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va., with Masonic Rites graveside services.
