BETTY J. RAKER [Keyser]

KEYSER, W.Va. — Betty Jean Raker, 90, of Keyser, and formerly of Burlington, died on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 in Keyser.

Born on July 24, 1922 in Sardis, W.Va., she was the daughter of Redus White and Pauline (Grogg) White Shiger. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. “Bill” Raker.

Betty was an antique dealer, interior designer, real estate appraiser. She formerly owned and operated Maple Hill Antiques and Village Restaurant in Burlington. She was a 1941 graduate of Shinnston High School and a United Methodist by faith.

Surviving are her nieces, Carol Morgan and husband Bob of Johnstown, Pa.; nephews, Karry Claycomb and wife Marge of Berlin, Pa. and Kevin Claycomb and wife Sannie of Bedford, Pa. Connie Bess and her husband the late Dr. Robert W. Bess of Keyser were Betty’s extended family, devoted friends and caregivers.

As per Betty’s request, there were no public viewings and funeral services.

A private interment was held in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

Arrangements had been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.
