FROSTBURG — Katherine Pearl Martin of Frostburg Village; formerly of Willow Valley and Booth Towers, Cumberland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday April 11, 2013 at  the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.

Born on April 26, 1925 in Ellerslie. She was the daughter of the late Harry O. Waltman and Alverda (Thomas) Waltman. She was the oldest of 11 children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 yrs, James R. (Bob) Martin Sr. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard, Jimmy, William and Robert Waltman; and sisters, Betty Robinson, and Shirley Sturtz.

Mrs. Martin was retired from the Celanese having worked in the Beaming Dept. She had been a member of Calvary Bible Church in Ellerslie for 30 years. She was a member of the Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church in Corriganville.

She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Rose and husband Pete of Spring Gap; one son, James R. (Bobby) Martin Jr. and wife Mary Lou, Cumberland.

She is survived by 4 sisters, LaVerda Lowery of Short Gap, W.Va., Janet O’Neal and husband Bill of Ellerslie, Mary Ann Deneen and husband Bob of Hyndman, Pa. and Joyce Churchey and husband Greg of Ellerslie.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Sandy Reid and husband Pat, Sheri Strickland and husband John, and Susie Ritter and husband Craig all of Cresaptown, Jamie Martin and wife Terry and Mindy Martin and friend Bill Livingood, both of Cumberland, Steve Hughes and wife Candy of Carpendale, W.Va., and Paula, Beverly, and Danny Rose.

Known to her great-grandchildren as “Martz”; (a name given by her oldest great-grandson); she truly adored this name.  She leaves behind many great-grandchildren, Gary Henry, Amanda and Austin Reid, Dustin Strickland (Her Special Buddy); Shane, Jesse, and Shaun Ritter, Cheyenne, Kody, and Kiowa Martin, and Miea Evans, Aliea, Justice, and Camden Livingood, Brittany and Blakely Epperson; great-great-granddaughter, Presley.

While we rejoice in her going Home; Those who knew and loved her will miss her, but rejoice in her reunion with the Lord.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. ( 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church on Monday at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Klink officiating.

Interment will be at Palo Alto Cemetery.
