MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK — Willard K. Hayden, 85, of Mountain Lake Park died on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born on June 7, 1927 in Wilmington, Del., he was the son of the late Gay and Mattie Hayden.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. His first job was for Sanders and Harshman’s Garage and he had worked for Island Creek Coal prior to his retirement. Willard was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Oakland, the Knights of Pythias, a 50-year member of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 in Oakland and their Honor Guard, and the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores (Evans) Hayden; two daughters, Tambra Ewing and husband Bill and Cynthia Parsons; grandchildren, Christopher Ewing and wife Kristin, Ryan Ewing and wife Emily, Tyler Ewing and Mathew Parsons; and a great-granddaughter, Sophie Ewing.
Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 6 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation will be in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Oakland, on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time a funeral service will be held with the Rev. John Parks officiating.
