— CRESAPTOWN — Joan (Cecil) Trexler, 78, of Cresaptown, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Frostburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born July 26, 1934, in the family home on Brant Road in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late George and Rhoda (Lease) Cecil. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin “Jim” Trexler, in 1963; a sister, Shirley Ralston; and a brother, George “Tip” Cecil.

Joan was previously employed at the Cumberland Undergarment Factory and Schwab’s and retired after many years of service as a floral designer at The Flower Basket and Magic Garden.

She was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church and of Beta Sigma Phi “Alpha Beta” for 46 years.

Joan is survived by her special friend and companion for 44 years, Richard Robeson, Cresaptown; two sons, James “Darrell” Trexler and companion Kathy, and Stewart Wayne Trexler and wife Lora, both of Falling Water, W.Va.; a brother, Thomas Cecil and wife Kathy, Cresaptown; two grandsons, Shannon and Troy Trexler, Falling Water; two granddaughters, Heather Trexler, Carpendale and Holly Trexler, Falling Water; and two great-grandsons.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, ( on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The members of Beta Sigma Phi will hold a memorial service at the funeral home.

A funeral service will he held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Hal Atkins officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
