CUMBERLAND — Ruth Ardell (Frazee) Gross, 85, of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013, at her home.
Born Oct. 11, 1927, in Friendsville, Mrs. Gross was the daughter of the late Olive Bud Frazee and Anna (Humberson) Frazee. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Guy B. Gross Jr. on Nov. 15, 2012; a son, George Frazee and three sisters, Macey Mae Savage, Jean Kisner and Dorie Knipple.
A homemaker, Ruth was formerly employed at Murphy’s One Stop Store. She was a member of the Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, where she served as the church treasurer. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Ruth is survived by her sons, O. Ray Newcomer and wife Kathi, of Tallahassee, Fla. and Daniel Wade Gross and wife Donna, of Carpendale, W.Va. She is also survived by her brothers, Ernest “Pete” Frazee and wife Eleanor, of Parsons, W.Va., William Dale Frazee and wife Sue, of Loch Lynn, Pa. and T. Wade Frazee and wife Rita, of Essex; a special niece, Linda Siehler and husband Lex, of LaVale; her grandchildren, Allison M. Newcomer-Okulicz and husband John, of Alexandria, Va. and Eric O. Newcomer, of Cumberland as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, June 27, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, June 28, 2013, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Sloan and the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
