KEYSER, W.Va. — Helen Clara Bittinger, 85, of Keyser, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her residence.

Born on Jan. 20, 1929 in Brownsville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Earl S. and Hazel (Wimer) Beckman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harland C. Bittinger; a brother, Milford Beckman; and two sisters, Beulah Dean and Ruth Rhodes.

Mrs. Bittinger attended Catherman’s Business School and was a former Draft Board Clerk for Selective Service System and secretary for Soil Conservation Agency in Garrett County. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Deer Park.

Surviving are her brothers, Harold Beckman of Keyser and Harry Beckman of Hampstead; and her sisters, Mary Savage of Washington, Pa. and Susie Butt of Oakland.

Mrs. Bittinger’s request was to be cremated and that there is no public viewing or visitations. Private inurnment will be held at Garrett Memorial Gardens, Oakland. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.
