— CUMBERLAND — Barry Dean Baker, 55, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at his home after a short battle with lung cancer.

Born May 7, 1958, in Frostburg, Mr. Baker was the son of Fran Loar and husband, Wayne, Corriganville, and Everett H. Baker, Rock Hill, S.C.

A graduate of Mount Savage High School, class of 1976, Barry was a United States Naval veteran and retired from the Western Correctional Institution. Currently he was working for G4S. Barry was a member of the Kemp Lodge 154; the Advisory Board of the Cumberland Assembly 6 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls; Past Patron Martha Washington Chapter 10 Order of the Eastern Star; and the Crossroads Sportsmen’s Club.

Barry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Amy L. (Smith) Baker; his son, Barry “Mooch” Baker II, Cumberland; and a daughter, Jacqueline Goldston and husband, Justin, Glen Burnie. He also leaves behind his brother, Everett L. Baker and wife, Susan, Lusby; his sister, Beverly Hunter and husband, Paul, Durham, N.C.; his half-brother, Noah Baker and wife, Cathy, Statesville, N.C.: and his step-brothers, Gary Thomas Loar and wife, Gloria, Springfield, Fla., Dennis Loar, Woodbridge, Va. and David Loar and wife, Cindy, Raleigh, N.C.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 7 p.m., with an Adult Rainbow Advisory service to follow.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. with Chaplain Galen Beitzel and the Rev. Rebecca Vardiman officiating.

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap at a later date.
