LINDA L. (LONG) LAYTON [Maysville, W.Va.]

MAYSVILLE, W.Va. — Linda Lou (Long) Layton, 64, of Maysville, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Grant Memorial Hospital.   

She was born Nov. 8, 1949 in Cumberland, and was a daughter of the late Elmer Long and Zula (Mallow) Long. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Malone; and two brothers Roy Long and an infant brother.   

Linda graduated from Hampshire High School in 1967. She graduated from Export Bible College, Export, Pa. in 1970. She worked for Kenny Shoe Corporation in Romney for 13 ½ years. Over the remainder of her years, she continued as a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother. She was a member of Romney Assembly of God Church and attended Falls Assembly of God Church.   

Survivors are her husband of 32 years, Ralph G. Layton; two sons, Ralph J. Layton and Larry L. Layton and wife Jamie Layton, daughter, Lacie Geary and husband, Dr. Mark Geary II and two grandchildren, Olivia Layton and Eli Layton, all of Petersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Fae Fuller of Romney, W.Va. and Gae MacBurney of Baltimore; sister-in-law, Debbie Long of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday 6 to 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.   

Funeral service will be Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Falls Assembly of God Church, 5260 Knobley Road, Maysville, WV 26833.
