ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. — Clarissa Sue (Ellifritz) Potts, 67, of Ellwood City, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital at Heritage Valley in Beaver, Pa.

Born on Nov. 7, 1946 at Keyser, W.Va., she was a daughter of Norma (Pancake) Ellifritz of New Creek, W.Va. and the late George W. Ellifritz. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel “Kathy” Conrad.

Mrs. Potts was a 1964 graduate of Keyser High School and a 1966 graduate of Potomac State College. She served in the Women’s Army Corps from 1966-69 during the Vietnam War. An avid reader, she loved art, nature and music. Her favorite thing in life was spending time with family and friends. To many “adopted” children, she was known affectionately as Mom.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 44 years, Charles E. Potts Sr.; her children, Marsha Gifford and husband Bobby of Keyser, Sarah Potts of Ellwood City and Brian Potts and wife Brittany of Butler, Pa.; a granddaughter, Abigail McQuiston and a sister, Rebecca Saville and husband Donald of Keyser.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas A. Jenkins and the Rev. Janet S. Jenkins officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
