EDITH C. SMITH [Keyser, W.Va.]

KEYSER, W.Va. — Edith Corinne Smith, 87, of South Carolina, formerly of Keyser, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2014.

Born on Jan. 13, 1927, at Romney, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Haven and Myrtle (Wright) Gardiner. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John “Son” Smith on March 25, 2009; a granddaughter, Sylvia Renee Marshall; and four brothers, James, William, Calvin and Harold.

Mrs. Smith retired from the Westvaco Luke Mill and also was employed with the former Rotruck Funeral Home in Keyser. She was Episcopalian by faith and formerly attended the Emmanuel Episcopal Church while residing in Keyser. She also was a member of Faith Chapter 31, Order of the Eastern Star, Keyser and was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary to Washington-Smith Post 152, American Legion, Keyser.

Surviving are her children, Sondra Coombs and husband Harry of Conway, S.C., Gary Smith and wife Johnella of Greer, S.C. and Steve Smith and wife Gloria “Dee” of Simpsonville, S.C.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 7 to 9 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary to Washington-Smith Post 152 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday evening, May 8, 2014, at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roland Nairn officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
