ELSIE P. CROSSER [Lonaconing]

— LONACONING — Elsie P. Crosser, 104, of 118 West Main St., Lonaconing, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, after a brief illness.

Born Jan. 26, 1908, in Barton, she was the daughter of the late James Aaron and Margie (Dye) Preston. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Bolton.

After moving to Aliquippa, Pa., Elsie worked in the steel mills and went on to graduate in 1955 from the Ambridge Public School of Practical Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at hospitals in Aliquippa, Pa., in the Jacksonville, Fla. area and the Allegany County Infirmary, before eventually retiring from the Sylvan Retreat in 1973. After retirement, she became a full time avid bingo player.

She leaves behind two daughters, Eleanor Kelly and husband Earl, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Marion Alkire and husband Robert, of Lonaconing and seven grandchildren, Pat Kelly and wife Aileen, of Tampa, Fla., Terry Kelly and wife Georgia, of Orange Park, Fla., Mike Kelly and wife Anita, of Ponte Verda, Fla., Mark Alkire, of Lonaconing, Steve Alkire and wife Penny, of Lonaconing, Nancy Yates and husband Danny, of Frostburg and Vickie Shockey and husband Steve, of Lonaconing. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grand-children.

At Elsie’s request, she was cremated.

There will be no visitation.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Boal Funeral Home, Barton, is in charge of arrangements.
