LONACONING — Earl Richard Andrews, 93, of Lonaconing, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 24, 1919, in Lonaconing, Mr. Andrews was the son of the late Howard C. Andrews and Jane (G. (Waddell) Andrews. He was also preceded in death by his sons, William “Billy” Andrews and Richard “Ricky” Andrews; his sister, Delma Andrews-Cook; his brother, George Andrews; and two nephews, Howard C. Andrews and Robert “Bob” Cook.
Earl attended of Central High School, Lonaconing. He was a decorated veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy aboard destroyers and ship tenders in the Mediterranean and North Africa areas. He worked at the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Factory then at the Fairchild Aircraft Plant, Hagerstown, and later an appliance and television repairman in the Lonaconing area. Earl attended the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.
Earl is survived by his sister, Mildred Jane Andrews, Lonaconing; and his nephews, David Cook and wife, Vivian, Las Vegas, Nev. and Harold Andrews and wife, Pamela, Salisbury, N.C.
At Earl’s request, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at Frostburg Memorial Park on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Bob Lloyd officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
