JEFFERY W. ALT [Fort Ashby, W.Va.]

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Jeffrey Wayne Alt, 52, of Fort Ashby, died Saturday, April 27, 2013.

Born Sept. 10, 1960 in Cumberland, he was the son of Darwin K. Alt and the late Nedra Geraldine (Dowden) Alt.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ethan M. Alt.

Jeffrey belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed participating in Special Olympics.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister, Brenda D. Harden, husband Patrick, and their children, Jason, Brian, and Billy Harden; a brother, Darrell V. Alt, wife Diana, and children, Darrell Alt, Jr., Nicole Wagoner, Cody Alt, Jessica Alt, and Emily Alt; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and the staff and housemates at Sycamore Run.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Hickman officiating.

Interment will be in Eusebia Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason, Brian, and Billy Harden, Darrell Alt, Jr., Travis Staggs, and Melvin Dowden.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mineral County Special Olympics.
