— MCHENRY — Samuel Charles Thomas, 41, of McHenry, died suddenly Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in Accident.

Born Nov. 13, 1971, in Oakland, he was the son of Mary (Rexrode) Thomas, McHenry and the late Brison L. “Rusty” Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was a farmer, truck driver, co-owner and operator of Samoria Farms. Previously he had been employed as a Deputy Sheriff with the Garrett County Sheriff’s Department and prior to this he was a correctional officer at the Garrett County Detention Center. He attended Hoyes United Methodist Church and was a deacon at “Mary Elizabeth Hoye” Open Door Chapel, Sang Run. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club and was an avid hunter, enjoyed working in his shop, farming and trucking. Samuel had his AA degree from Allegany College of Maryland.

He is also survived by his wife, Victoria Ann (Friend) Thomas; a brother, Tim Thomas and wife, Paula; and a sister, Josephine (Thomas) Checchia and husband, Urbane, all of McHenry.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Hwy., Accident (McHenry), on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the Mary Elizabeth Hoye Open Door Chapel on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Durst and the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating. Friends may all at the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Sang Run Cemetery.
