NORMA E. WILSON [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Norma Evelyn (Beaman) Wilson, 90, of Cumberland, formerly of Grantsville, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Golden Living Center.

Born Sept. 24, 1922, in Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late Robert Theodore Beaman and Lena Belle (Heldreth) Beaman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wilson, in August of 1968 and a sister, Louise Treadway.

Formerly of Bethesda, Mrs. Wilson became an owner and resident of the historic Stone House Farm (Tomlinson's Inn) at Little Meadows outside of Grantsville from 1966 to 1970. Her love of things historic was instrumental in the property being protected and listed on the National Historical Register in 1976. Mrs. Wilson was a retired employee of Flushing Shirt Manufacturing in Grantsville, where she worked for 15 years.

After retiring, Mrs. Wilson relocated to Annapolis, to be a caregiver for her granddaughter and was a member of Saint Mary's Parish in Annapolis, until returning to Grantsville recently. Mrs. Wilson was known to her family and friends as an avid gardener, skilled homemaker, a lover of things historic, with a good sense of humor and an independent nature. A friend would not leave a visit with Norma without learning something new or interesting. Playing on a baseball team in Dayton as a teen, Norma loved the game and enjoyed watching it on TV and listening to sports radio.

Mrs. Wilson's favorite thing in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren, always teaching and nurturing each one at any opportunity. Her unconditional love will be remembered by all.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her brother, William Beaman, of Groton, Conn.; her children, Charlene Campbell and husband Timothy, of Powhatan, Va., Howard Passman and wife Kathy, of Ijamsville, Nathaniel Passman and wife Beverly, of Cumberland, Henry Wilson and wife Lisa, of Manassas, Va. and Heather Nelson and husband John, of Oakland. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, July 26, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Father Steve Fernandes, O.F.M. Cap. officiating.

Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to staff of The Golden Living Center for their compassionate care and request that expressions of sympathy be in the form of a donation to The Golden Living Center, 512 Winifred Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
