Edward A. May [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Edward Allen May, 61, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at his home.

Born Dec. 4, 1950, in Flintstone, Mr. May was the son of the late Oscar Olin May and Virginia Mae (Rexroad) May. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael E. May.

A graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1969, Ed was a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam Era. He was general manager for several different car dealerships and retired from Rocky Gap Lodge and Resort.  

Ed is survived by his daughter, Shanin R. May-Markl and special friend Aaron Wolford Jr., both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; his son, David Painter, of Cumberland; the mother of his children, Linda Baer, of Cumberland; and his special friend, Donna Linaburg, of Cumberland. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Jane Jacobson, and Margaret Etier, both of Duncan, Okla., Ruth Kennedy, of Cumberland, and Donna Jean Palmer, of Portland, Ore.; his brother: Charles William May, of Portland, Ore.; as well as numerous grandchildren.  

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, ( on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ted Marsh officiating.

Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
