LEVAUDA F. POWNELL [Keyser, W.Va.]

KEYSER, W.Va. — Levauda F. Pownell, 90, of Keyser, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 10, 1923, in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Norman E. Abe and Lucy F. (Malone) Abe.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Carl Abe; and three sisters, Irene H. Wagoner, Dorothy Hinkle Spencer, Mildred Ann Smith.

Levauda was a member of the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren and former member of Reese’s Mill Homemakers. She was a former member of the West Virginia Farm Bureau.

Mrs. Pownell had been employed at the Celanese Plant, having worked in the Coning Department. She also worked ten years for West Virginia University. Her last job was at Dawnview Nursing Home in Fort Ashby.

Survivors include her husband, Charles W. Pownell; two daughters, Faye L. Olinger and husband, Danny, Short Gap, and Linda L. Lindner, Ridgeley; one sister, Letha Self, Fort Ashby; three grandchildren, Troy W. Olinger, Cumberland, Norman B. Dyson, Port Orange, Fla. and Nancy L. White, Cape Canaveral; three great-grandchildren, “T.J.” Troy W. Olinger Jr., Cumberland, Tyler Jennings, Florida, and Matt White, Florida; and two great-great-grandchildren, Alli Lynn Olinger and Ameerah Nicole Olinger.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, June 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Sutton officiating.

Interment will be in the Abe Cemetery.

Levauda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the love and joy of her life, always coming first. She will always be remembered as being full of joy and having a smile for all.
