JAMES V. FROELICH [Bedford, Pa.]

— BEDFORD, Pa. — James Vincent Froelich, 80, of Bedford, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at Golden Living Center.

Born Aug. 23, 1933, in Cumberland, Mr. Froelich was the son of the late Phillip Henry Froelich and Margaret Belva (Cook) Froelich. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Jim retired from Columbia Gas of Maryland with 33 years of service. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and was also involved with the Good Samaritan Group at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Jim was also a member of the Columbia Gas Retirees Club; the Bedford Masonic Lodge 320; the Cumberland Democrat Club; and the Wilhelm Hunting Club. Jim had a passion for fishing, hunting and gardening and always wanted to fix things for himself and others. He was also a skilled carpenter and built his own house.

Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carole M. (Smith) Froelich; his daughter, Vonnie (affectionately known as “Dory”) Duckworth and husband, Gary; his son, Jimi Froelich and wife, Terry; and his granddaughter, who was also the light of his life, Christie “Bink” Lindner and husband, Sean, all of Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, ( on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m.

A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at 4 p.m., with Joyce Hillegass, C.L.S., officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in his name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maryland Chapter, 11403 Cronhill Drive, Suite E, Owings Mills, MD 21117.

The family would like to give many thanks to Roy Stewart, Pam and Steve Grabenstein, Allen and Rose Liller, and Bob Peck, for all the care and support given.
