JAMES F. GENSLER SR. [Oldtown]

— OLDTOWN — James Franklin Gensler Sr. passed away at his home on Thursday, July 3, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles F. Gensler Sr.; mother, Ann (nee Greene) E. Gensler; brother, Charles F. Gensler Jr., of Oldtown; sister, Cora B. January, of Carney; brother, Willian A. Gensler, Cumberland.

Surviving are his sisters, Helen L. Mason, of Short Gap, and Beverly A. Biggs, of Dundalk; his loving wife, Martina; his son, Ronnie Brittain Jr. and his wife, Scarlett Brittain, of Oldtown; Jim’s “Lil Girl,” Tigger Rue, of Oldtown; son, James Gensler Jr. and his wife, of Dundalk; granddaughters, Tina and Amy Snyder; grandsons, Blair and Luke Brittain and Mikey Snyder, of Oldtown, and Brittany Gensler, of Dundalk; and dear friend, Jeanee Doman.

Jim was a member of Oldtown Baptist Fellowship.  Jim, also known to his family as “Granpap,” loved to hunt, fish, go camping, gardening and he also loved to cook making up his own recipes as he went along.

We will miss his smile and witty sense of humor. And a favorite saying of his that will go on forever, “I’m Not Getting Involved”!

Jim served his/our country as a United States Marine.

No funeral services will be held, as Jim again gave his body to Science praying that they could find a cure for cancer, so his legacy will live on forever.

He is now glorifying in heaven, free from pain and being able to do the things he hasn’t been able to do, this also helps his family in coping with our great loss of a “WONDERFUL MAN.”

There will be a celebration of Jim’s life later on.

Mr. Gensler had asked in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Western Maryland Hospice, 1050 West Industrial Blvd. Suite 19, Cumberland, MD 21502, c/o Candy Adams.

We also would like to add and THANK some very dear friends to us from Hospice, Morgan House, R.N., Ladonna Dolly Ortt, Kirsten Jewell, Shelia, Cris, Annie, and Tammy, (WMHS Supply) and the rest of the Hospice family, you “ALL” did a GREAT JOB for us and we so much APPRECIATE ALL of you.
