ALLEN P. VANMETER JR. [Keyser, W.Va.]

KEYSER, W.Va. — Allen P. VanMeter Jr., 62, of Keyser, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born on Nov. 15, 1950 at New Creek, W.Va., he was a son of the late Allen Pritchard VanMeter Sr. and Evelyn P. (Miller) VanMeter. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Korinna Leann VanMeter; a sister, Barbara Jean Michael; a brother, Rockie Lynn VanMeter; and a brother-in-law, Aubrey Johns.

Mr. VanMeter was a retired plumber by trade. He was a dedicated member of the Branch Full Gospel Church in McCoole, and greatly enjoyed collecting and playing guitars.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Evelyn (Whisner) VanMeter; two daughters, Christina Ganoe and husband Kenneth and Shelly Judy and husband Daniel, all of Keyser; one brother, Rawlin Ray VanMeter and fiancée Patty of McCoole; two sisters, Betty Lease and husband Rev. Jack Lease of McCoole and Wanda Johns of Keyser; a brother-in-law, Richard Michael of Antioch, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Brooke VanMeter of Piedmont, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his special pal, "Skeeter."

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Baker "Jack" Lease officiating.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the family at 500 Carskadon Lane, Apt. 608, Keyser, WV 26726.
