CUMBERLAND — Michael Dennis Griffin, 62, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at home.
Born on Sept. 11, 1950, in New York, he was the son of the late George Francis Griffin and Billie Jean (Mitchell) Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Shawn Kinser.
Michael was a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam Era. He was a truck driver. Mr. Griffin loved working on vehicles, collecting NASCAR memorabilia and porcelain dolls. Michael enjoyed life and tried to live life to its fullest.
Surviving are his wife, Denese Ann (Rader) Griffin, of Cumberland; his children, Dawn Rounds and husband Rick, of Cresaptown, Michelle Griffin, of Cumberland, Michael Scott Griffin and wife Stephanie, of Cumberland, Cheyanne Griffin, of Cumberland and Nicole Lewis and husband Michael, of Tennessee; grandchildren Steven Goss, Jonathan Goss, Kaitlyn Sisler, Linise Becker, Ty Brooks, Angel Griffin, Bethany Kinser, Trevor Griffin, Leeland Griffin, Loretta Mather, Michael Jr., Mary-Elizabeth, Catherine Nicole, Andrew James and Mathew David; great-grandchildren, Donimic and Andrew Goss and Brooklyn Sheaffer; sisters Evelyn Ann Creamer and husband George and Bonnie Maria Wright and husband Ray; brother Frances William Griffin and many nieces and nephews.
As per Michael’s request, his body was cremated.
A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap Chapel at 2 p.m. with Honor Guard Chaplain Bob Lloyd officiating.
Inurnment will be in Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veteran’s Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, to help defray the funeral expenses.
