LORNA L. MICHAEL [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Lorna Lee Michael, 89, of Cumberland, went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Lorna was born Jan. 11, 1924, Cumberland, the daughter of the late Dennis Howard Springer and Lelia (Day) Springer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ralph A. Michael; her sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Mary Ellen True; her brother, Jimmy Springer; and a grandson, Jimmy Michael.

Lorna was a member of the Memorial Heights Baptist Church. She was a valued helpmate in ministry with her late husband, Rev. Ralph A. Michael for many years, serving in four different congregations. Lorna never met a stranger and loved to share her faith with everyone she met.

Lorna is survived by her sons, Pastor Denny Michael and wife, Ruth, Cumberland, and Larry Michael and wife, Kathryn, Birmingham, Ala.; her daughter, Beverly Twigg and husband, Charles, Pinto; and her brother, Richard Springer and wife, Gloria, Orlando, Fla.

Among those who love to tell you great stories about Lorna are her wonderful grandchildren, Teri Goetz, Sheri Hardinger, Krista Francisco, Steve Michael, Danny Twigg, Ashley Brouwer, Kent Michael, and Graham Michael. As well Lorna had 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland,  (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A service of thanksgiving and remembrance will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Chan Hubbard officiating.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial Park.

Many thanks to the loving staff of the Frostburg Village Nursing Center for the extensive care and compassion they extended to Lorna the last seven years. They will miss her singing, her stories, her humor, and her love. Also, the family thanks the ER and Progressive Care staffs of the Western Maryland Health Center for their competent care and attention to Lorna in the final days before her home going.  

We look forward to that great reunion that will occur when we will join our mother and those loved ones who have gone on before. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15).
