— NEW CREEK, W.Va. — Robert P. Del Signore, 80, of New Creek, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.

Born on Jan. 31, 1933 at Bayard, W.Va., he was the son of first generation immigrants, Giovanni and Marianna Del Signore. He also was preceded in death by six sisters, Nataline Centofonti, Lucy Varchetto, Yolanda Taccino, Margaret Smith, Pauline Carderelli and Salina "Sue" Marsala; and four brothers, Frank, Ernie, Eugene and Reynold Del Signore.

A 1951 graduate of Beall High School in Frostburg, Mr. Del Signore was retired with 38 years of service as a calendar operator at the Westvaco Luke Mill. He also owned and operated Hickory Hill Farm in New Creek since 1954. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption, Keyser, W.Va., and was a very community oriented man and would help anyone in need without a need for recognition. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and the work ethic of his parents and his entire family. Even though he never served in the United States military, he was a deeply patriotic man and loved his country and all it stood for.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Carol Lee (Klipstein) Del Signore; six children, Robert Mark Del Signore and wife Vickie of New Creek, Aline Denise Holmes and husband John of Inwood, W.Va., Lorie Lynn Del Signore of Moorefield, W.Va., Anthony Phillip Del Signore and wife Marie of New Creek, Karen Lee Whitlock and husband Brent of Louisa, Va. and John Edward Del Signore and wife Amy of Keyser; one sister, Rosalie Hauser and husband Don of Des Moines, Iowa; and 14 grandchildren, Robert Logan Del Signore, Rachel Lynn Del Signore, John Robert Holmes, Megan Elizabeth Holmes, Alexandra Cari Holmes, Christopher Michael Claudio, Carlie Don Del Signore, Claire Marie Del Signore, Abigail Rose Del Signore, Elizabeth Lane Del Signore, Carlee Elizabeth Whitlock, Alayna Jennifer Whitlock, Candra Jo Del Signore and John Connor Del Signore.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R. as celebrant.

Interment will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery, Keyser.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Del Signore's extended family at the New Creek Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 10, New Creek, WV 26743.
