LAVALE — Berthildis “Bert” Morton, 87, of LaVale, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 25, 1926, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Kalac. She was also proceeded in death by her husband, Stanley John Morton; her daughter Kathleen Scott and her son-in-law, John Scott.

Bert enjoyed volunteering at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church when her children were young. She also spent many active years in the church, maintaining their linens.

Surviving is her son, John Morton and wife Donna, of Short Gap, W.Va.; two daughters, Sheila Morton Funk and husband Dennis, of Belcamp and Lisa Judy, of Cumberland; one sister, Vivian Fiacski, of California; two brothers, Lawrence Kalac and wife Leona, of Luzerne, Pa. and Peter Kalac and wife Grace, of Middletown N.J. Bert is survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher Scott and wife Wendy, of Bloomington Ind., Jason Scott, of Butler Pa., Terin (Morton) Fetty and husband Chuck, of Winchester, Va., Nicole Morton and fiance Jack Hager, of Fairmont, W.Va., Scott Funk, of Churchville, Alexandra Funk, of Charlottesville, Va., Kaitlyn Judy and fiance Jason Savercool and two great-grandchildren Samantha Scott, of Bloomington, Ind. and Skyla Hagar, of Fairmont, W.Va., along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cresaptown.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
