CHARLES “CHUCK” H. PARSONS III [Romney, W.Va.]

ROMNEY, W.Va. —  Charles “Chuck” Heber Parsons III, 56, of Romney, W.Va., died on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at Winchester Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 20, 1955, to the late Charles Heber Parsons, Jr. and Kathryn Anne Cole Parsons.

A graduate of Hampshire High School’s class of 1974, Chuck spent most of his life in Romney. In service to his country, he spent seven years in the United States Air Force having tours of duty in Germany, Turkey, California and Washington DC. He was a member of Romney’s St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and served and retired as Asst. Chief of the Romney Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Romney Moose Club. Chuck was active with the Little League and high school athletics. For the last 20-plus years Chuck has been em-ployed with the Dyno-Nobel organization which specializes in high level explosives. Chuck’s interests pertained to mostly anything that had to do with the outdoors; hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and his beloved WVU football team. An exception to the outdoor activities, Chuck could be found several times a week enjoying the bowling lanes. Chuck was a much loved member of the community and will be missed.

He is survived by his fiance, Kathy S. Sanders of Romney; his son, Charles “Chip” Heber Parsons IV and his wife Sarah of Ridgeley, W.Va.; his daughter, Jillyn Marie Parsons of Romney; his brother, Garrett Timothy “Tim” Parsons, Sr. and his wife Kelly of Romney; his aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Tom Dowling of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; his niece, Kaitlyn Marie Funkhouser of Romney; and his nephew, Garrett Timothy “G.T.” Parsons, Jr. of Romney. Also survived by one grandchild, Emma Grace Parsons.

Friends will be received on Monday, Oct. 29 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney.

Services will be conducted at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.

Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Romney Volunteer Fire De-partment.
